Hello, my name is Isaac, I live in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, I am 41 years old and I suffer from a neurodegenerative disease called Friedlia’s Atilaxia. This disease, among many other things, generates problems of balance and coordination of movements, which makes me use a wheelchair.

I went to the Independent Living Center for a while to participate in a study on the possibilities of home automation linked to mobile applications. To me all these things I like quite a bit and everything that is to facilitate the activities of daily life is welcome. I already had some things linked to my cell phone in the home, but really there I was taught many more and I could see a very good solution, easy to assemble and affordable, which I had long sought and that I had not yet solved in house

I, as I said before, have serious coordination problems and it was very difficult for me to put the key on the lock of the door to open and close. Well, there I could try a lock that opened and closed the door with my cell phone, which made me a lot of life and gave me much more independence.

Hi, I’m Araceli and I have cerebral palsy. Some time ago the people of the CVI came home and offered me some help to be able to walk much better around my house and be safer. They were very close and friendly people at all times with me.

They put me some bars that help me move better through several areas of the house and also the bathroom. In addition to a railing to get up more easily from the bed.

They also brought me some cutlery that help me eat better and a device to put on my socks without stooping so much and that is going very well for me.

I love each of the people who came to help me a lot.

I am Emilia, I have a cerebral palsy and I am 39 years old, in order to be able to live independently, in my house with all possible comforts, I contacted the CVI for 3 years now, so they could advise me and see what improvements I could do it in my house. The professionals in the center recommended me to change the bathtub to put a shower tray, to reform the kitchen so that you can put the furniture more by hand and put a dishwasher, as well as the table to cut food and the car with wheels to carry food . For autonomy they advised me to buy a walker so that you have more security when it comes to making long journeys along the street.

I met the CVI through a neighbor of the stairs that went down the street with a walker who had never seen. He saw that he could sit down, he could take the purchase and was easy to use. She spoke to me about the center, and I recommended going to try the products and the help they had. It was hard for me to walk down the street, crouch and put on my stockings and shoes (I used more shoes to be able to put them more easily) … On the other hand I did not feel the phone properly when I called my son; he always carried it on but did not understand it.

I asked for the visit and two girls attended me. What used to be the best was to try the products that they had in the center. They recommended me devices that could help me in my difficulties. Since then, the improvements have been many, since I can now dress myself easily, I can put on my socks, and I wear shoes of my number. I bring a phone that is very easy, it only has four keys. At home I have put on a device to feel better the doorbell door that warns me with a light. In short, I am now more autonomous, I feel more secure both at home and when I go down the street with the walker.

As you already know, it is a great luck when you get older, to be able to continue living in the usual home, of which there are the best memories. And even more important at our age, the deep and detailed knowledge of each area we have been acquiring over the years, and which makes life easier. However, the loss of capacity is becoming important, and I must thank you for finding small or large elements that help us develop our daily tasks and thus increase the security to be worthwhile for ourselves. I have to admit that, in most cases, I did not know that they existed.

They placed meadows that facilitate mobility, a seat for the bathtub, an artifact that makes it easier to open the bottles, to collect objects from the ground, etc.
